Research topic:
Data Assimilation in 3D coastal models
An "Ensemble runs" method is used to access to the space of variability of a 3D model of the Gulf of Lion (NW Mediterranean) in response to various pertubations. We can thus describe the "natural variablity" of coastal circulations but also investigate the range of modelling errors related to uncertaincie of various forcings (atmospheric forcing, open boundary conditions,...).

2000-2004
PHD student at Laboratoire d'Aérologie
Research topic:
3D coastal ocean modelling

The dense water formation over the continental shelf of the Gulf of Lion (NW Mediterranean) during winter 1999 was studied thanks to a 3D primitive equation model and CTD and ADCP data collected during the "Moogli3" campaign. See also my Phd report and Dufau-Julliand et al 2004. MORE DETAILS...

Research topic:
Wind-induced coastal circulations
Typical meso scale circulations over the continental shelf of the Gulf of Lion (NW Mediterranean) are set up in response to the strong NW winds of the region. Details of this study can be found in my Master or ESIM reports. See also Estournel et al 2003. and my training course report.
