Post-Doctoral position available in
unstructured mesh ocean modelling

A post-doctoral position is available at the LEGOS laboratory (Laboratoire d'Etudes en Géophysique et Océanographie Spatiales) in Toulouse, France. Successful applicant will work within an existing team as part of the 3M euros "AMANDES" project founded by the French Research Agency (ANR). The (multi-disciplinary) project aims to study the exchanges between the continental and ocean systems through the Amazon river. In this project, the Toulouse coastal ocean modelling group (POC) is in charge of the hydrodynamic modelling of the Amazon estuary and continental shelf based on a new unstructured mesh ocean model (T-HUGO) under development at POC. Applicant will strongly participate to the model numerical developments and its implementation over the Amazonian shelf region. Among foreseen issues, non-Boussinesq and non-hydrostatic dynamics, coupling with data assimilation drivers and multi-element capabilities will be addressed. Experience in computational fluid dynamics, unstructured mesh methods, finite element/volume techniques, C/C++ programming as well in classical OGCMS will be highly beneficial.

Period of appointments: 24 months
